The European Team Championships - Historical (ETC-H) is an annual tabletop wargaming competition.
Although the ETC-H can include multiple game systems and scales, the current game of system is Flames of War, 4th Edition, published by Battlefront Minatures.
Flames of War is a 1:100 scale World War II game, with an easily accessible ruleset for those who have played other wargames, using tape measures for movement and dice rolling with “saves” for shooting, as well as a close-combat phase. It focuses on company level play (about 100 soldiers or about 15-20 tanks) and army lists are typically about 100 points when played on a standard 6’ x 4’ gaming table.
Governance
The ETC-H organization is first and foremost governed by The Charter. This provides the overarching governance for the organization, as well as “bylaws” to handle various circumstances.
The organization is managed by 1 or more Chairmen. You can read more about them here.
Starting with the 2026 Edition, there is also a Rules Pack Committee (RPC), which is responsible for producing the rules pack. You can read more about them here.
Goals
The following have identified by the ETC-H 2026 Chairmen as being the general wishes and goals which guide our shared decision making:
Maximize participation among players and countries. Avoid decisions which alienate national communities.
Allowing as much as the game to be used as is feasible, with the exceptions for blatant violations of historical accuracy.
Provide as much transparency as possible.
